Virtual Meeting Recap: Core Values, Culture and Chick-fil-a

Our virtual meeting on Friday started into the intriguing question: Can you be successful and broke at the same time? This sparked a lively round table discussion where we explored how success intertwines with personal finances and individual definitions of achievement.  Drawing inspiration from figures like Mother Teresa, we discussed the value of wealth in contrast to the strength and success of our personal relationships.

A focal point emerged around champions and championship organizations, emphasizing the importance of living by core values. We discussed how these values not only govern individual actions but also shape organizational culture. This is where we learned that one of our members has been married for 45 years and we discussed how you don’t stay married for 45 years without a baseline agreement on what's important. We all agreed that you don't stay married that long if your core values aren't aligned.

This was a great segue into the idea that, just as in a marriage, where partners need to align on fundamental values like trust, respect, and communication, successful businesses thrive when their members share common values and goals. These shared values serve as the foundation for decision-making and behavior within the organization.

Next, we discussed the crucial role of leaders in shaping organizational culture, drawing inspiration from the book "Good to Great." We highlighted the difference between charismatic leadership and the lasting impact of leaders who live and breathe the company’s core values.

Using Chick-fil-A as an example, we examined how they maintain clarity and consistency in their culture, influencing recruitment and alignment with core values.

We’re looking forward to our next virtual meeting on Friday at 2:00 PM, where we will continue our exploration of building and sustaining organizational culture rooted in core values. We hope you’ll join us and maximize your experience within the Peak Performer’s Huddle
